But for those that want to turn their passion for live streaming into a career, becoming a Twitch affiliate is your first step on that path, and Streamlabs can help you get there.
Let dive right in.

Five Tips to Help you Become a Twitch Affiliate
We’ve talked with top streamers in the industry to gather insight into the ways they are growing their channel. Below are a few best practices that helped them achieve their goals.
Check Your Analytics
Numbers do not lie. It is important to look at data to accurately evaluate how you are doing. You should monitor your progress with the intention of evaluating why you are seeing these numbers. Data can help you formulate actionable insight and uncover something you did that may have helped or hindered your growth. Let’s say you gain 5 new followers in one week — this may be good for someone starting out. Ask yourself, what you did differently this week compared to other weeks. Some great questions to ask yourself are: What games did I play? How often did I stream? Was I engaging my audience more often? Evaluate what activities make the largest impact on your goals and adjust from there.
Collaborate and Build Relationships
Collaborations help creators grow, reach new audiences, learn something new, meet new people, and connect with others.
Reach out directly via Twitter or Discord and build a relationship. Ask each other for advice. Ask for strategies. Ask for support. Play together or stream together. Raid and host each other. Do Instagram takeovers or social media collaborations. Ultimately, you can support each other, and you can create something new.
You can also go to conferences to meet people. While there is a higher cost here, there are few better ways to start a relationship than meeting people face to face.
Create a Community
Make a discord server for your channel. It doesn’t matter how small you are. Someone cares about you and your content, and they want a place to interact with you and to interact with others who enjoy your content.
You can also use Reddit, Discord, or join forums with people of similar interests and become a part of an already established community. Being a part of a community of like-minded people is a great opportunity to invite new people to your stream.
Attend Events and Conferences
We’ve covered this a little bit above, but we wanted to reiterate it here because attending conferences can bring new business opportunities, contacts, and collaborations. The cost here is obviously higher, however, the potential ROI can be well worth the expense.
When trying to figure out whether to attend a conference, you should be very deliberate with your goals. Be honest with yourself. Is it to have fun? That’s fine. Life is short. You should enjoy it. Is it to connect with other creators you admire? That’s great!
Be sure to do your research. If you want to introduce yourself to a streamer, make sure they will be there so that the trip is not in vain. Trying to get sponsored? Try emailing them before the conference to lock a meeting. Once you figure out your goals, you can decide for yourself if the trip is worth it.
Be Active on Social media
Social media is king. The #1 person that should be authentically selling yourself is you, and the easiest way to do that is via Twitter. There are many social media platforms to choose from, but we recommend starting with Twitter because that is most popular in the creator and gaming space.
Start communicating with the world about your stream. Promote your social channels when you stream. Plug your handles when you are live. Include links in your about section. Social media acts as a way to amplify your reach when you go live and gives your community a place to interact with you.
These are our five best practices to help you grow your channel and become a Twitch affiliate. Of course, there are thousands of helpful tips out there. What advice would you give to new streamers?
