If you’ve upgraded your smartphone in the last five years, you should have all the tools you need to live stream from a phone. Mobile live streaming allows anyone to easily broadcast whenever and wherever they want.
Chances are, you already have a live streaming platform on your phone. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all offer live streaming features directly in their mobile apps. Many people choose to live stream to social media because it gives access to an existing audience. However, live streaming through native apps is limiting because you can only stream to that social platform.

Before you Begin
Before you begin streaming from your mobile device, you should close all the open apps. This will ensure that your device is running as fast as possible and will reduce potential lags or crashes from happening while you’re streaming. It’s also a good idea to turn off notifications so that your stream isn’t interrupted by incoming alerts.
Ensure you have already set up an account on whichever platform you plan to stream and review their community guidelines. Any content that is deemed inappropriate or illegal might get your account suspended on both the platform and Streamlabs.
How to Stream on Mobile
This section will walk you through how to live stream from your phone using the Streamlabs Mobile App.
First, download Streamlabs for your mobile device. The Streamlabs Mobile App is available for Android here and iOS here.
- Open the app and login with your credentials.
2. Choose what you plan on using Streamlabs for. If you intend to live stream IRL, click ‘Stream your camera,’ click ‘go live,’ and you’re set! If you intend to live stream your gameplay or other content from your phone, click ‘Stream your games.’ Complete the following steps to ensure your phone can capture your screen.

4. When you are ready to start broadcasting, click on the Go Live button, choose the platform you want to broadcast to, and enter in a title and description of your stream. That’s it! You’re ready to stream.
Tips for Streaming From Your Mobile
Live streaming on your phone is pretty simple once you’ve gone through the initial setup. However, there are some extra steps you can take to boost the quality and make your on-the-go live stream feel a bit more professional.
- Find that sweet lighting spot. Natural sunlight is your best light source. Position your phone with a window facing you with the sun washing over your face. Make sure you don’t sit with your back to a window or else you’ll just become a dark silhouette.
- Perfect your phone positioning. Keep things at eye level. No high or low angles here, keep things head-on for an even look. Add some space between you and your phone to avoid having too much of a close up. Add some flair to your background that will add some interest or show your personality.
- Make sure you have great audio. Stream from a quiet location without much background noise and stay as close to the device as you can to ensure your voice comes through clearly.
- Promote before you go live. There’s nothing more discouraging than going live to an empty room. Let people know that you’re going live ahead of time by making an announcement on your social networks. Get your followers really excited about your live stream by including a description or teaser of what to expect.
- Engage with your viewers. Many people watch live video streams because they want that feeling of connection with the person broadcasting. Say hello to the people who are commenting, answer questions, ask questions and treat your live stream as a conversation. Make your viewers want to know you.
- Give viewers next steps. What do you want your viewers to do after they’ve watched your live stream? Always make sure to end each broadcast with a call to action whether it is to sign up for your newsletter, follow you on social media or share your video.
- Test out your broadcast. Practice makes perfect. Rehearse everything, ideally at the place where you are going to stream the real thing. Make sure to check your camera, microphone and any other equipment you’ll be using.
